D is For Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in NC by Glory Lennon

The A-Z Blogging challenge is going on with D is for Daniel Stowe Botanical garden in Belmont, NC.

This was a new one for us. WE had never seen it before mostly because we had never ventured to this part of North Carolina. It's located on the opposite side of a lake from where my brother lives so we never new it existed.

We like new things and new sights, so of course when we saw it, we knew we had to go visit. It didn't hurt that it was one of the hundreds of botanical gardens on our receprical membership list. That meant we got in for free with our membership to another garden. We currently have a membership to a botanical garden in Mobile Alabama.  Yes, even when we live in Pennsylvania it makes sense.

Tom happened to be going through Alabama once and stopped by the garden and that's how that happened. He brought me back a Crape Myrtle, too. This is me standing next to a statue of a freedom child just under a lovely canopy of crape Myrtles.

This Daniel Stowe Botanical garden was a tad smaller than we're used to, only 380 acres. It is also relatively new. In  1991it was started, but it has all that a garden requires, fountains, flowers, trees and shrubs of all sorts. If you're ever in, near or about Belmont, North Carolina you ought to stop by for a visit, a picnic or to get married there. It's certainly pretty enough.

  1. WoW how pretty! I work in Belmont....only Belmont, California....just across the continent. I did get to see the botanical garden in Washington DC this past summer and loved Buchart Gardens in Victoria, Canada. I have never been to Sunset Gardens just a few miles down the road from where I live...perhasp that should be on my to do list.

    Happy A-Z Wednesday :)

  3. It's very pretty. Nice to have gardens in the neighborhood...we've got a few I'm aching to go see, and then some that wouldn't be worth the time at all too.
