P is for Pickled Pepper Plants

Our next letter up for the A-Z Blogging Challenge is P, and P is for pickled pepper plant.

I suppose you're wondering what in the world is a pickled  pepper plant. Thing is, there isn't. That is to say, it wasn't originally pickled until after getting it home. No, we didn't buy it at a store. It was a gift from Tom's brother-in-law who mistakenly bought Habanero chili pepper seeds instead of bell pepper seeds.

I told them Tyler loves them hot and the hotter the better. They almost died--their words not mine-- when they tried one, so they're planning on selling them to their Mexican neighbors, who laughed at them, no doubt, for being wimps!

This one tiny but deadly fruit came  already growing on the plant. It's almost ready for picking.

The pickled part is that this little plant doesn't seem to like it in Pennsylvania, even indoors. It was doing fine indoors in South Carolina where Cindy--Tom's sister-- and Larry live, but the pepper plant is now losing its leaves. Horrors!

What can we do for this poorly little pickled pepper plant? Heck if I know. We'll have to wait and see if it survives in the Poconos.

  2. Glory, do you know about sulphur? Sprinkle some powdered sulphur (sulfur) onto the soil and water it in. Make sure it has lots of water too. If you have no powdered sulfur, put some matches in the soil and water. That ought to make it grow. ":)

  3. Matches you say? Way cool! I knew I was saving those things for something other than lighting candles! Thanks, Cookie Monster. *note to self bake cookies for cookie monsters on my list*

  4. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers. A peck of pickled peppers, Peter Piper picked. If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers, where are all the pickled peppers, Peter Piper picked? Look no farther than Glory's Garden:)
