Glory's Garden

All the world's a garden, you know, and we are mere flowers within it. Come, I'll show you!

Don't get any funny ideas!

Laura's Wrist Warmers

I mentioned yesterday that I knitted a pair of wrist warmers for Laura, Brandon's fiance this past weekend. I thought I'd show them to you.

Up to no good

I'd like to say I'm up to no good, but that never is the case. I try to do some good all the time. Of course, that doesn't mean I succeed.

Case in point: I meant to do a whole week's worth of Glory's garden posts-- as I often do-- on the weekend, but that never happened. I meant to read a novel  written by my Canadian pal Raymond Alexander Kukkee of Incoming Bytes and give a review, but The Fires of Waterland would have to wait.

Why? Well, I was too busy. What was I so busy with? Watching movies and knitting.

I love Ginger not Maryann

We're talking Ginger today. I love Ginger. No, no, no! Not the redhead from Gilligan's Island and not Maryann either. Ginger is one of my favorite, almost daily consumed medicinal herb of choice. Why? I'll tell you! It keeps me going. I found a few different types at the Edison-Ford Estate Botanical gardens and it just reminded me that I ought to tell you how good this is.

Ginger is one of those spices people associate only with cookies, cakes and candy and yes, it does lend a great taste to these treats. But little do they know the wonderful medicinal qualities found in this tangy, pungent tropical root.

Argument against fall clean up

I know there are plenty of people who insist a thorough fall clean up of the garden to be essential, but I'm here with an argument against that practice.

Sarasota's best kept secret

Do you know Sarasota's best kept secret? Do you know Sarasota is in Florida? Well, then let's start there. It certainly is in Florida and we went there one day the last time we were in Florida*. Sarasota is just a day trip--according to Tommy's day trip monitor-- from Punta Gorda where our time share is.

Snow ruins everything

All right, I know there are those who would argue--me included--but I'll say it anyway; snow ruins everything!
Even after plowing, a few inches of ice remain on driveway

There we were happy to be away from the cold and work for a short while on a much needed respite/vacation to warmer climes and then we hear about the snow coming down back home.

You might think, "Well, what do you care? You're away!" Yes, but that doesn't mean all is well back home. Again I hear you ask, "So???"

Edison-Ford Winter Estates

Have you ever been to the Edison-Ford Winter Estates in Fort Meyers, Florida? Well, why the heck not??? Really it's quite a treat. It's part museum and part--the bigger part for me anyway-- botanical garden.

We've been here many times. It's free for us with our reciprocal garden membership so we go every chance we get...Otherwise the admission is ~$22 each. Yowsa!

Happy New Year!

We do things differently around here--like I just told you anything new. Anyway, I'll wish you a happy New Year by showing you more Christmas stuff we found at the Marie Selby botanical garden in Sarasota, Florida. What? You thought Christmas was over??? Shows how much you know!
