I've been busy crocheting

I've been busy. No, unfortunately not with garden stuff, with crocheting. Want to see what I've been doing anyway? Of course you do!

I've been putting together squares which some of my crocheting buddies have donated to give away for those suffering a tragic event. This was the third comfort afghan I put together.

Glory's top ten Movie picks

Prepare to laugh. I will be giving you Glory's top ten movie picks. Why would I do such a thing? Because Alexandra Heep told me to.

And why would I listen to her? Well, better than listening to the voices in my head. They keep hounding me to write their stories and really, I just don't have time to do them all at once. And yet I have time for this list...well, I never said I actually made sense, now did I?

A new baby changes everything

Before you get any ideas, no, I do not have a new baby! Helium deleted my first article on how a new baby changes a relationship. No, let's rephrase that. They deleted an article for the first time. It was not the first article I ever wrote for Helium, however. It was deleted because they now have decided it was off topic. Took them seven years to realized that??? Yes, it did, but I contend it was their own fault. They should have made it more clear to new writers what they expected of each title. But that is neither here nor there. The point is I have this article and I may as well use it here.

Here's a warning for you: If you don't want to learn more about me than you think you ought to, then don't read on. It's far more personal than I usually get. What was I thinking???

Crocheting for Charity

Crocheting for charity is not a new thing. There are all sorts of wonderful organizations which do this. I found one on Facebook recently run by my friend Marie Anne St. Jean of Crooked Yarn fame. I thought I'd tell you about it, just in case you'd like to do some crocheting for charity, as well--or you could let the crocheters in your life know about it if you don't knit or crochet.

Hands, Hearts, and Hugs - Crocheting for a Cause provides comfort afghans--comfort-ghans we call them-- to little kids and adults who have experienced trauma of some sort. It's a way to show them that someone out there cares.

Refusing to let go

You know how there are some people who refuse to let things go? I speak of things like Christmas. That would be me.

There are those that refuse to take the Christmas lights down until....well, until they feel like it. That wouldn't be me. No, not talking about that. My Christmas stuff came down soon enough, a week or so after New Years. I suppose that could be laziness and/or procrastination for some people, not taking the outside lights down until June or something.

For me it's Poinsettias, I refuse to let go of. I refuse to do as everyone else does and just toss them out with the dried up, needle-shedding Douglas Fir.

No, I re-potted mine and here they are looking almost as Christmasy as they did the day we bought them.

Am I nuts? Possibly. Am I crazy? What do I care. I have a few more house plants. A Christmas gift to last all through the year.... I like that just fine. I may even possibly get these plants to re-flower next winter. We'll see.

Yep, I just refuse to let go of some things and good for me.
